First lets discuss what types of things can cause severe slowdowns:
- Categories. For each category Pocket Informant has to lookup a separate record in a table. We cache much of this info, but it still can take lots of extra time
- Notes. Pocket Informant has to read a part of each note to see if one really exists or not.
- Recurring data. To properly show calendar entries we have to extrapolate recurring data for each occurrence until today.
- Custom Icons.
- Franklin Covey information
A few things you can do to speed Pocket Informant up if you fall into the above categories:
- Turn off icons in settings. Turn off note icons, category icons, etc...
- Turn off category icons and category colors.
- Cleanup your appointments database by removing old recurring appts, making existing ones have a newer start date and so on.
We will update this article as we document more methods. If these methods don't help, it may simply be that your device is a bit slow in memory access to databases.
