2.0 Read Me

Pocket Informant 2.0 is mostly rewritten from version 1.x and has a completely new database architecture and design. When you first run version 2.0 it will migrate your current database into the new database file and archive the old 1.6 file. We've tested the upgrades on many dozens if not a hundred or so databases and are confident that for most people it will work fine. If you experience any issues please let us know via support.

After upgrade there are a few notes:
  • Sync authentication is different in version 2.0 and cannot be migrated. We migrate the basics of sync info, but you will have to enter the sync authentication afresh.
  • If you sync with WDS, the data will migrate as read-only. WDS requires a complete resync and PI will force that on the next sync. What's more important is WDS 2.0 is not yet ready for PI 2.0 and PI 2.0 requires WDS 2.0. WDS 2.0 may be ready late this week or next week.
  • Google will do a standard sync and then a complete erase reset sync so that we can get specific information on recurring events we need now.
  • We expect there to be a very large number of users downloading and installing PI 2.0 in the first few days and with the sync changes we also expect there to be a lot of sync errors due to overloaded servers. So please note that even Google does not keep a ton of Calendar API servers. If their servers take over a few seconds to respond they will respond with an error that PI should handle in most cases.
