Details: Upon first launching version 2, you will go through an upgrade process (this can take anywhere from a few seconds to a couple minutes depending on the amount of data you have to upgrade and the speed of your device). Once the upgrade process is complete, you will see a message about needing to perform a reset sync before you can resume normal syncing. At this time, Pocket Informant also sets all of your sync accounts to “disabled”.
Before you can sync again, you must perform the below steps. Note: during the course of performing these steps, you will be doing a “reset sync”. Pocket Informant will need to evaluate all of your data on the device and the server. Depending on the size of your database and the speed of your internet connection, this can take a few minutes. If you are currently on a 3G connection and are concerned about your cellular data usage, you may want to wait until you are in an office/home environment where you can perform these steps over Wi-Fi rather than 3G.
- Go to the Settings tab in Pocket Informant (slide the tab bar to the left to see the Settings tab).
- Tap Sync Settings.
- Choose the first sync service in your list.
- If necessary, re-enter your sync username/password (note for Google Calendar: Pocket Informant uses Google’s new secure login service. If you sync with Google Calendar, you will need to tap the “Sign In” button to log in before you can sync).
- Re-enable the sync service by switching “Enabled” to “On”. If you would like auto-sync to be on as well, also turn on “Automatic”.
- Once the account is re-enabled, tap the sync button (it may be labeled “First Time Sync” in some cases).
- You may be prompted to choose the type of Reset Sync you wish to perform. In most cases, you will want to opt for “Merge Sync”.
- After the reset sync is complete, back up to the main Sync Settings screen, choose the next sync service on the list and repeat steps 4-6.
When you are done going through all your sync services, the Pocket Informant 2.0 upgrade is complete and you can perform normal syncs again.
